The dynamic

Travellers spend differently than locals.

A guest at a hotel near you is not on the same errand as the local who walks past every day. They're hungry after travel. They're not in a rush. They're not counting cents.

They're looking for somewhere worth telling people about when they get home. The kind of customer who orders the bottle, not the glass. The customer who comes back the next morning for breakfast. The customer who recommends you to the friend visiting next month.

These are the highest-intent customers a local business can serve. And every week, hundreds of them are sleeping within walking distance of your door.

The problem

Most of them never find you.

When a guest checks into a hotel and asks the obvious question - where should we eat? - they get one of three answers. The same restaurant the front desk has recommended a thousand times. Whatever Google shows them at the top. Or a printed list of every business in the area, sorted by who paid.

None of those answers reflect the places locals actually love. The cafe on the side street. The wine bar that doesn't take bookings. The gallery upstairs that you'd only know about if someone showed you. The places that make a neighbourhood worth visiting.

What we do about it

We work with the considered hotels in your area.

Strictons makes printed and digital guest experience guides for hotels who care about what their guests find. Hotel-branded, given to every guest at check-in, and featuring a curated list of local businesses chosen by the hotel itself.

Each guide reaches every guest at a partner hotel for twelve months. It sits in their room, accompanies them through the city, and often goes home in their bag. It's a piece of the experience, not an advertisement inside it.

And the businesses inside aren't there because they paid most. They're there because the hotel and we think they're worth recommending.

Curation, not application

You're invited.

When Strictons partners with a hotel, the hotel chooses the kind of businesses they'd genuinely send a guest to. Together, we build a shortlist of the area's best cafes, restaurants, retailers, and places to spend an hour. Then we approach those businesses directly, on the hotel's behalf.

That's the only way in. There's no public directory, no application form, no waiting list to game. If we reach out, it's because a hotel near you has already chosen your business as one worth their guests knowing about.

From there, we host a small in-person event at the hotel where the chosen businesses meet us, hear how the guide works, and decide whether to be part of it. Everything that matters; the hotel, the placement, the specifics, is shared on the day.
